Global Crypto Trading Community App

Problem

Empire Trading Co needed a mobile app that could serve a global crypto trading community at scale — combining a social feed for daily engagement with a premium subscription layer granting access to gated courses and live trading calls. It had to meet strict App Store and Google Play policies for payment-enabled apps while remaining fast and stable for high-volume concurrent users.

Approach

Built end-to-end in React Native (CLI), with the architecture split into clearly separated domains: the social feed engine, the subscription and payment layer (Stripe + App Store / Play Store IAP), and the gated content access system. State was managed with Zustand, with deliberate performance optimization to reduce unnecessary re-renders across feed and chat surfaces. Authentication and third-party service integrations were layered on a scalable API architecture designed for community-scale traffic. Store submissions were managed proactively to pass compliance review on the first attempt for both platforms.

Outcome

Shipped to both App Store and Google Play without rejection. Subscription system live as the platform's primary revenue mechanism. Social feed, gated courses, and live call access all in production. Push notifications and real-time updates operational. [TODO: add user count, monthly subscription revenue, and retention metrics when available]

Empire Trading app — live calls and community

StoreFlow – Smart POS & Business Management Platform

Problem

Many small businesses still rely on manual record-keeping, spreadsheets, or expensive POS systems that are difficult to learn and maintain. Business owners need a simple, affordable solution to manage sales, inventory, products, and reports without requiring technical expertise or costly hardware. Existing solutions often charge high monthly fees or include complex features that small businesses rarely use, creating unnecessary barriers to adoption.

Approach

Designed and developed StoreFlow as a mobile-first SaaS platform focused on simplicity, speed, and accessibility for local businesses. The platform consists of three core systems: a React Native mobile app for store owners and cashiers, a Next.js backend API powered by PostgreSQL and Prisma, and an internal administration dashboard. The architecture follows a multi-tenant SaaS model ensuring complete data isolation between businesses. Core features include POS checkout, inventory tracking, product management, sales reporting, Bluetooth receipt printing, and subscription management — built modularly to support future expansion into accounting, employee management, and loyalty programs.

Outcome

StoreFlow gives small businesses a modern, affordable POS operable entirely from a smartphone. Key capabilities: mobile POS with fast checkout, automatic inventory deduction per sale, product and category management, daily/weekly/monthly sales reporting, top-selling product analytics, Bluetooth thermal receipt printing, multi-store SaaS-ready architecture, and a free entry-level plan with premium subscription options. Positioned to serve retail stores, cafés, kiosks, food stalls, resellers, and other small businesses seeking a simple digital transformation without enterprise complexity.

Fundara — Personal Finance & Expense Tracker

Client: Self-Initiated / Indie Product

Problem

Most budgeting apps fail users not because of missing features, but because of friction. Fundara needed to solve daily expense tracking for individuals managing multiple spending categories, savings goals, and recurring bills — all without the cognitive load of traditional finance tools. The app had to meet strict App Store and Google Play guidelines for financial data handling while remaining fast and intuitive for high-frequency daily use.

Approach

Built end-to-end in React Native (Expo) with the architecture split into clearly separated domains: local-first storage with AsyncStorage, global state managed through Zustand, and a NativeWind v4 design system for consistent, theme-aware UI. Dark and light mode were implemented at the system level. Onboarding was designed to reduce drop-off through progressive disclosure. Navigation was handled entirely through Expo Router with tab and stack patterns optimised for one-handed use.

Outcome

Shipped to both App Store and Google Play with full onboarding, expense logging, category management, and theme switching operational. Performance targets met for entry creation and list rendering at scale.

About

Who I am and what I build

I build subscription-based mobile apps and full-stack web products for funded startups in the crypto, fintech, and community platform space. I own the full product lifecycle — from architecture and UI/UX through App Store and Google Play release — and have done so remotely for clients in Australia, Canada, the US, and the Philippines for over a decade.

My most recent work was for Empire Trading Co (Melbourne, AU), where I led end-to-end development of a production React Native app for their global crypto trading community — social feeds, premium subscriptions, gated courses and live calls, shipped to both the App Store and Google Play.

I'm currently open to senior contract roles or a full-time senior position at a crypto, fintech, or subscription mobile startup — ideally working with AU, US, UK, or EU time zones. If you're building something ambitious in that space, I'd like to hear about it.
